The photorevolver, the camera of Konrad Brandl (1838-1920), in the hands of its designer proved to be a perfect tool for capturing the realities and atmosphere of a modern city, Warsaw at the end of the 19th century. Brandl's momentary photos mark the beginning of photography as we all know it. Not professional, posed and retouched, but ordinary, capturing not only momentous events, but also everyday, often accidental ones; showing people busy with their daily lives, often unaware that someone is watching them.
