Białoszewski’s Phantoms. Voice-Theater-Trans
A vibrant, colorful, and rhythmic ethnographic journey through Poland, brimming with creative expression and designed as a playful search game for children. The task is to find a cockerel hidden among intricate patterns and characters from folk traditions. The cockerel takes on many forms: as a wooden toy, a paper cutout, or a metal weather vane. It decorates embroidered costumes, enhances musical expression, and even becomes a prop in centuries-old village theater. These colorful, clay, and wooden cockerels ignite imagination and bring joy to children. **Anna Kaźmierak on creating the book:** "Creating this book was an artistic exploration of Poland's material and immaterial heritage, still preserved by a few local communities. It reflects my longing for cultural spaces shaped by nature and shared history, offering a sense of continuity. Through my work, I depict customs and objects that, in my view, hold profound and not merely symbolic power."
