City–Fashion–Machine
"City–Fashion–Machine" complements the permanent exhibition at the Central Textile Museum in Łódź. The publication combines a richly illustrated guide to three exhibition floors, a catalogue of museum objects, essays, historical tables, and infographics. The design unites diverse content through two typefaces: a decorative serif and a simple grotesque. The color palette reflects natural cotton, cast iron, machine grease, factory smoke, and vivid orange symbolizing Łódź’s brick factories. Archival and contemporary photographs intertwine, showcasing weaving machines and portraits of workers. Infographics, diagrams, and tables are meticulously crafted. The eco-paper cover, printed with soft grass fibers, combines durability with flexibility. Its screen-printed collage of archival images and hand-lettered title evoke cotton fibers, mirrored graphically on the title page. A cotton-polyamide ribbon, with printed composition details, ties the design to the exhibition's narrative.
