Mechanism is a photographic story that not only lets us see but also comprehend and appreciate how our country has changed in the years of 1989–2019. In Mariusz Forecki’s photos, Poland is the eponymous mechanism. The artist’s work is non-judgemental, and is an in-depth observation of contemporary life that can be somber and ordinary, as well as the type of life declared as “more substantial” by newspaper headlines. He presents this indirectly, as it was often printed in the press in days past, and takes on the role of a sociologist and documentary filmmaker, becoming someone more than just a photojournalist.
„Mechanizm” to fotograficzna opowieść, dzięki której nie tylko możemy zobaczyć, ale także postarać się zrozumieć i docenić, jak zmienił się nasz kraj w latach 1989-2019. Polska na zdjęciach Foreckiego to tytułowy mechanizm. Autor nie ocenia, raczej jest dogłębnym obserwatorem rzeczywistości – tej szarej, zwykłej oraz tej „ważniejszej”, z pierwszych stron gazet. Ukazuje ją jednak nie wprost – jak zwykło się drukować ją w prasie. Sporo jest w Foreckim socjologa dokumentalisty – dużo więcej niż fotoreportera.
