“Echo” is the result of several journeys taken to the historical region of Volhynia. This well-balanced and ambiguous book is a grand story of senseless cruelty, composed of photos and direct reports from its inhabitants. To view the book, one has to unbend the cover which is held together by a magnet. The inside resembles a pile of archive photographs and the publication consists of twelve cards which unfold like a map – each containing four black-and-white photos. A golden sticker is the only color accent in the book. On each page, there is a long text, the name of a village and its GPS coordinates.
Projekt książki fotograficznej Maksymiliana Rigamonti „Echo”, która jest efektem kilkunastu podróży na tereny historycznego Wołynia. Wyważona, niejednoznaczna książka to opowieść o wielkiej historii i bezsensownym okrucieństwie, ułożona ze zdjęć i relacji świadków. Żeby obejrzeć tę książkę, trzeba odgiąć okładkę, którą przytrzymuje magnes. Środek przypomina stos archiwalnych zdjęć. „Echo” składa się z 12 kart, które można rozłożyć jak mapy – na każdej z nich są cztery czarno-białe zdjęcia. Jedynym akcentem kolorystycznym jest złotawa wyklejka. Na każdej stronie znajduje się kilkuwersowy tekst, nazwa wsi i jej współrzędne GPS.
