The theme of the Malta Festival – Platforma Bałkany [The Balkan Platform], is centred around art created by the former Yugoslavian countries or by artists from the region. The main graphic themes of the publication are crossed out slogans, which are associated with establishing a community: Nation, Balkans, East, Europe, The Others. However, they are always accompanied by the word Us. When paired, the concepts can be interpreted in many ways – complementary, determining how we define collective identity, but as also as two opposing ideas.
Temat przewodni festiwalu Malta – Platforma Bałkany – jest skupiony wokół sztuki tworzonej w krajach byłej Jugosławii albo przez artystów pochodzących z tego regionu. Głównym motywem graficznym publikacji jest przekreślenie haseł ustanawiających wspólnotę: Naród, Bałkany, Wschód, Europa, Inni. Zawsze jednak towarzyszy im słowo „My”. Pary pojęć można interpretować na wiele sposobów. Mogą być dopełnieniem, określającym to, jak definiujemy zbiorową tożsamość, ale też dwiema antagonistycznymi względem siebie ideami.
