Book design for “The Eyes of the Skin: Architecture and the Senses”, published by the Institute of Architecture in Poland. Juhani Pallasmaa is a Finnish architect, a retired professor of the Technical University of Helsinki and a visiting professor at several American universities. Although the author is an active architect, his writing are not easy to associate with one of the academic discipline. The texts included in the publication “The Eyes of the Skin” are placed at the verge of architecture theory, philosophy and cultural studies reflecting on the condition of modern civilization.
Projekt książki “The Eyes of the Skin: Architecture and the Senses” [‘Oczy skóry: Architektura i zmysły’], wydanej przez Instytut Architektury . Juhani Pallasmaa jest fińskim architektem, emerytowanym profesorem politechniki w Helsinkach oraz wizytującym profesorem na kilku amerykańskich uniwersytetach. Choć autor książki jest aktywnym architektem, to jego pisarstwa nie da się już tak łatwo zamknąć w ramach jednej dyscypliny akademickiej. Teksty zawarte w tomiku “The Eyes of the Skin” lokują się na styku teorii architektury, filozoficznej i kulturoznawczej refleksji nad kondycją współczesnej cywilizacji oraz pierwszorzędnej eseistyki.
